Many sunscreens contain dangerous chemicals for your body and our coral reefs!  Most of the popular brands contain oxybenzone and octinoxate which decrease corals’ defenses against bleaching, damaging their DNA and hurting their development.  When beachgoers wearing sunscreen go swimming, they carry these chemicals into the ocean. Research shows that coral reefs in Hawaii are exposed to over 6,000 tons of sunscreen lotion every year and what is scary is that oxybenzone starts causing serious damage to corals at concentrations as low as the equivalent of one drop of water in six-and-a-half Olympic-sized swimming pools.
 Oxybenzone and octinoxatesunscreens will be outlawed in Hawaii starting in 2021!
